Debbie is an accomplished and well-recognized watercolor artist, with paintings accepted into numerous juried exhibitions over 35 years. Inspired by our beautiful PLP surroundings, she loves capturing light to express the feeling of oneness with nature. Debbie also inspires future watercolorists by teaching Arts Center workshops … this year via Zoom!
Debbie was born in Wilkes-Barre, PA. She graduated from Ithaca College, Magna Cum Laude, and earned her masters degree from Fordham College in Educational Administration. After a few years of teaching and working in school admissions she married, devoting her time to raising a family and painting watercolors. For thirty-eight years she has concentrated her passion and energy into watercolor. Her work has developed mostly through workshops, classes and independent study. Recognized teachers she has studied under include Margaret Huddy, Carolyn Gawarecki, Susan Abbott, Tony Couch, Tony Van Hasselt and Tim Clark. Having recently moved to the Savannah area, she is inspired to paint the lovely Savannah area with its amazing marshes, birdlife and live Oaks.

She is also inspired by her beloved Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania and coastal scenes of Georgia and Florida. Debbie seeks to portray, in a realistic style, the beauty of nature in landscapes or the luminescence of flowers in close up detail. What is important to her is to capture the light, so her paintings evoke an emotion and a feeling of oneness with nature.
